Spokespeople
Adam Huttler, 36, is the founder and executive director of Fractured Atlas.
Since launching Fractured Atlas in 1998, Adam has built it up from a one-man venture housed in an East Harlem studio apartment to the country’s largest arts service organization, reaching a network of more than 250,000 artists in all 50 states and all 435 congressional districts.
In a cultural landscape rife with new challenges, Adam has emerged as one of the arts community’s most innovative and influential young leaders, inspiring the field to embrace new, entrepreneurial business models, developing new technologies that help artists thrive, and providing a voice for a new generation of independent artists working outside traditional institutions.
Under Adam’s leadership, Fractured Atlas has expanded to offer a wide range of services to help artists build sustainable careers and organizations, including: health and liability insurance; funding through its fiscal sponsorship program, the largest of its kind in the nation; and innovative technology tools - from Spaces, a free online booking service for rehearsal and performance space, to Arful.ly, a community-designed, open source platform for building custom arts management and ticketing systems.
Recognized as a national expert on arts business, non-profit entrepreneurship, and technology and the arts, Adam has been featured in outlets from NPR’s Morning Edition to The Economist to The Huffington Post. He also regularly speaks on industry trends, including appearances at the Future of Music Coalition Policy Summit, Grantmakers in the Arts, Americans for the Arts, Yale University School of Management, and Nonprofit Finance Fund.
Adam serves on a number of boards and steering committees, including those of the Performing Arts Alliance, the National Network of Fiscal Sponsors, NYC's One Percent for Culture campaign, and the Bay Area Video Coalition. He has a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.B.A. from New York University.
Follow Adam’s thoughts on arts-related news and trends on the Fractured Atlas blog and Twitter.
