Philip Shneidman
Philip Shneidman is the Artistic Director of the little OPERA THEATRE of NY. He has directed Eugene Onegin and Dialogues of the Carmelites at The Mannes College of Music where he is director of the Opera Workshop. His theater directing credits include: A Drowned Girl [1919]; Vladimir Mayakovsky, a tragedy (HERE); Romeo & Juliet (Queens Theatre in the Park); Truth and Standards (Sanford Meisner Theatre), Fully Committed (Adirondack Theatre Festival); 5 Patchin Place (NADA); Ouroboros (the WPA Theatre); and Geography of Horse Dreamer (NYU). On Broadway and at Lincoln Center Theater he has served as the Assistant Director on The Full Monty, Pride's Crossing, Once Upon a Mattress, A Delicate Balance, The Heiress, and Hapgood, among many others. Mr. Shneidman has contributed to numerous opera productions as a stage manager. Among those notable productions are Così Fan Tutte, Albert Herring, Rodelinda (Aldeburgh Festival); Le Nozze di Figaro (Aspen Music Festival); Curlew River & L'Ormindo (with the former Chamber Opera Theatre of NY.) He also worked on the original productions of Sondheim's Passion, Wilson’s The Black Rider, and Bernstein’s A Quiet Place. Training: NYU/Tisch-Playwrights Horizons Theatre School (BFA), Goethe Institut-Berlin, Sarah Lawrence College. Musical Studies: Andreas Haefliger, Stanley Lock, Katherine Parker.
