Edward Ficklin

Shying away from the limelight, composer and librettist Edward Ficklin has found his way in the new music world -- and started discovering his voice as an artist -- working with collectives like the New York Composers Circle and the South Oxford Six. Trained in classical composition and English literature at the University of Denver, he finds inspiration in the small details and sounds of everyday life.

Recent success of note include a residency at the newly established artists colony I-Park (East Haddam, CT), a commission from the Walt Whitman Project (Brooklyn, NY), and participating in the first year of American Opera Project's Composers and the Voice series. Recently his work has been heard at the Cervantes Institute (New York), the Brooklyn Conservatory, the Spring Fever Festival and chashama's 2005 Oasis Festival. His work in net art and other technological matters can be found at www.teknokothika.com. He founded the Voyeur Theater Ensemble--an opera company dedicated to his work for the stage--in 2003.
