Support Forum Has Gone the Way of the Dodo

Here at Fractured Atlas, we’ve always had a gazillion different ways of talking to and hearing from members. One of the most venerable was the Support Forum, a collection of online message boards that served as both a customer service tool and a soapbox.

The Support Forum has been a workhorse for nearly 7 years now. I wrote the software that powers it myself, based on my ideal of a simple but powerful internet discussion board application. But the truth is that - with F.A.Q.s, helpdesk software, a blog, email, phones, and more - the Support Forum had become superfluous. It also took a lot of staff time and energy to maintain and moderate, was barely used at all by our membership, and attracted gobs of spam.

So it was with a little sadness but more relief that today we sent the Support Forum to a farm in the countryside. In an amazing coincidence, it turns out to be exactly the same farm where I’m assured my childhood pets are all still romping happily!

If you find yourself desperately in need of some esoteric tidbit of information that was archived in the forums and is now inaccessible, just let us know. We’ve still got the database and we’ll keep backups indefinitely, so we should be able to look it up for you.
