Love and Taxes
Well, it’s better than death and taxes, right?!
Since it’s been a while since I’ve told you all about some of the special offers for our members, I thought I’d take a look at the next few months to see what’s coming up. And, I saw both Valentine’s Day and Tax Day. Nice polar opposites, huh? So, let’s see what you can take advantage of that can help alleviate the stress of these two holidays….
We know it’s been a hard year. We realize you’re trying to figure out how many deductions you can take on your taxes. Why not work with an accountant that understands your needs as artists? Check out the offers from Rockstar CPA and PEAK Advisors, both of which are artist-friendly firms. Or maybe you’re looking to finally set up QuickBooks. Check out our discount to AcctCite Accounting, a firm of QB pros!
And, since tax season is upon us, you might be trying to save money in case you have to pay the piper (hopefully, you’re all getting refunds, though!). So, what do you get your better half when you’re on a budget? Check out our special offer for 1-800-Flowers. Maybe take a nice vacation — get discounted rates at ZipCar and for swanky, artsy hotels through Academic Ambassadors. Looking for a more interesting gift? Why not take your mate to a discounted screenwriting course with award-winning writer (and Fractured Atlas member) Jacob Krueger? Or maybe the love of your life has been dying to get away and make their art at an artist residency program. Give him/her a membership to Alliance of Artists Communities (an Open Arts Network partner) so s/he can find the perfect one!
Or why not sit back, relax, and enjoy a good show? Get a free Associate Membership to Dance Theater Workshop (another Open Arts Network partner) to get discounted tickets to their performances or check out Theater Extras, TheaterMania Gold Club, Theatre Development Fund, and/or the School Theatre Ticket Program for discounts to shows on Broadway, in L.A., and beyond!
I hope I’ve given you a few good options to consider. And, even if you’re not looking forward to either holiday, you can still reap the benefits of these discounts and give yourself some nice gifts. I’m sure we will all need something to lift our spirits once April 15th rolls around!

Thanks for this post Adam! Actually, about a month ago I was all in a tizzy trying to find a non-profit or arts-friendly accountant. I had NO idea that there were several resources waiting for me via Fractured Atlas. (I ended up finding a great - and very reasonably priced - guy in my hood in Washington Heights). One request/suggestion for the special offers section. It’s currently organized alphabetically. I wonder if there’s a way to organize under headings type, e.g. financial/taxes, marketing/PR, artist training, etc. Just a friendly suggestion! Keep up the good work!!
