The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is accepting applications for USArtists International

Who they fund:
Through USAI, grants are available to American dance, music and theater ensembles and solo performers that have been invited to perform at international festivals and for performance engagements that represent extraordinary career opportunities anywhere in the world outside of the United States.

Geographic focus:
National

What is required:
Eligible applicants must:

  • be a dance, music or theater ensemble or solo artist, including practitioners of folk and traditional forms, that work at a professional level
  • be designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or have a U.S.-based fiscal sponsor that is designated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • if an ensemble, have the majority of its members be U.S. citizens or permanent residents (whether a U.S.-based ensemble or a collaborative project with artists in the host country). The lead creative artist of a collaborative ensemble must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • if a solo performer, be invited to perform as a soloist without accompaniment and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Deadline:
December 7, 2012 for projects taking place between March 1, 2013 and February 28, 2014.


The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation is accepting applications for Individual Support Grants

Who they fund:
The Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success. This program was conceived in order to recognize and support the serious, fully-committed artist, and we hope these individuals will consider applying.

Geographic focus:
International: US citizenship or residency is not required.

What is required:

  • Maturity: Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate that they have been working in a mature phase of their art for at least 20 years. Maturity is based on the level of intellectual, technical, and creative development maintained over this time period. Artists must show that their primary involvement has been with their artistic goals, regardless of other personal or financial responsibilities. Artists must work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, or printmaking.
  • Financial Need: Eligibility for an Individual Support grant is determined by the applicant’s current financial need. A financial disclosure page is included in the application which must be completed and signed.

The Gottlieb Foundation does not provide funding for organizations, projects of any type, educational institutions, students, graphic artists, or those working in crafts. The disciplines of photography, film, video, or related forms are not eligible unless the work directly involves, or can be interpreted as, painting or sculpture.

The ASCAP Foundation is accepting applications for The Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards

Who they fund:
The Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards are granted annually to encourage talented young jazz composers.

Geographic focus:
National

What is required:
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or enrolled students with a student visa. Applicants must be under age 30 as of December 31, 2012. Applicants must submit a completed application form; an original score or chart of one composition accompanied by a CD indicating proper track (if applicable); biographical information listing prior music studies, background and experience.

Only completely original music will be considered. Arrangements are not eligible. Compositions which have previously earned awards or prizes in major national or international competitions are ineligible.
