How to Link your Indiegogo Campaign to Fractured Atlas

As you probably already know, Fractured Atlas has a partnership with Indiegogo, which allows our fiscally sponsored projects to use Indiegogo’s crowdfunding platform at no additional cost, and still accept tax-deductible donations. Fractured Atlas will receive all of the donations throughout the course of the campaign, and therefore the donations will only be assessed the Fractured Atlas 7% administrative fee, regardless of whether or not the campaign’s goal is met. Because Fractured Atlas will be processing all of the donations, the campaigns will not be subject to Indiegogo’s terms and fees.

In order for this to work, the Indiegogo campaign will need to be directly linked to your fiscally sponsored project. You can follow these steps to make sure your campaign is successfully connected to Fractured Atlas.

If you’ve never run an Indiegogo campaign:

  1. Log on to www.fracturedatlas.org and go to your My Fiscal Sponsorship page.
  2. Click “Accessorize!” and you’ll see a list of services to which you can link your fiscal sponsorship.
  3. Click “Indiegogo” (click it again), and a sidebar will appear containing information about Indiegogo and its partnership with Fractured Atlas.
  4. Click “Create a NEW campaign on Indiegogo.” When you click this link, an account and draft campaign will be automatically created for you on Indiegogo.com. Please check for an email from Indiegogo which outlines the steps you will need to take in order to access your Indiegogo account and campaign.
  5. Create your campaign! For tips about creating a successful campaign, please click here. Please remember to include the values for each perk in the field labeled, “non tax-deductible amount,” on the edit page of your campaign.
  6. Click “Go Live!” once your campaign is complete and you’re ready for us to review it. Fractured Atlas will receive an email notification alerting us that you’re ready to have your campaign reviewed and approved.   We’ll review it within 5 business days (though we can usually review it within 1-2), and we’ll approve it if we think it’s ready to go.  Once approved, the campaign will go live immediately.  If we have questions or edits for the campaign, we’ll reach out to you directly by email to address our concerns.

If you’ve run an Indiegogo campaign that was linked to Fractured Atlas:

  1. Create a new campaign using the Indiegogo account you’ve used for your Fractured Atlas campaigns in the past.
  2. Email support@fracturedatlas.org with the URL for your campaign and we’ll take the necessary steps to have it connected to your fiscal sponsorship. Please make sure to do this before clicking “Go Live!” so that we can review the campaign while it is still in draft mode.
  3. Add non-deductible amounts as necessary. This field will not appear until after your campaign has been manually linked to your fiscally sponsored project.
  4. Click “Go Live!” once your campaign is complete and we’ll proceed as above

If you’ve run an Indiegogo campaign outside of your Fractured Atlas fiscal sponsorship:

  4. Click “Connect to an EXISTING Indiegogo Account,” and enter your email address in the pop-up.  If you’ve already started creating a campaign, this should automatically link the campaign draft to your fiscally sponsored project.  If you have not started creating a campaign, go ahead and put together a draft and email us the URL so we can have it manually linked to your project.  Once it’s linked, go ahead and add any relevant non-deductible amounts for the perks.
  5. Click “Go Live!” once your campaign is complete and (you guessed it) we’ll proceed as above.

It is very important that your campaign is linked to Fractured Atlas or we will not be able to process the donations and they will not be tax-deductible. If you are ever concerned about whether or not your campaign is successfully linked to Fractured Atlas, please email us and we’ll gladly let you know. Unfortunately, if the campaign is not linked, there’s no way for us to know it exists, so we’ll rely on you to let us know about any subsequent campaigns you run. Here are some tips for checking on it yourself. If you do not see one of these clues, then your campaign is probably not connected to Fractured Atlas and you should send us a quick email with the URL for your campaign.

  1. Check for the Fractured Atlas logo. If your campaign is linked to your fiscal sponsorship, the Fractured Atlas logo will appear under your video or image.
  2. Check for the Fractured Atlas Standard Text. The standard text will appear under the social media sharing section, and above campaign description that you’ve created for the campaign.
  3. Check for the “non tax-deductible amount.” If your campaign is linked, then a field marked “non tax-deductible amount” will appear above the “Label” field for each perk on your campaign’s edit page.

Once you’re sure your campaign is connected to your fiscally sponsored project and we’ve approved it, you’re as good as golden!  Happy Fundraising!

I want to know if funds are available prior to ending date?

  2. Theresa Hubbard:

They will be! Because the donations are processed by Fractured Atlas and not Indiegogo, the funds will become available 7 days after we process the donation.
