Announcing the Arts Entrepreneurship Awards and Call for Nominations

Risk-TakingA great idea can change the world. But it takes moxie and optimism to challenge conventional wisdom, disrupt conventional practices, and turn that idea into reality.

Fractured Atlas empowers artists to be entrepreneurs by removing barriers to creative expression. We take this entrepreneurial spirit to heart, constantly searching for new solutions to age-old problems in the culture sector: We recently launched Artful.ly, a free web software platform that helps artists sell tickets, take donations, and track their fans; and helped more than 3,200 arts projects raise over $13.7 million in the past year through our fiscal sponsorship program.

The arts and culture sector needs more great ideas. More importantly, we need entrepreneurs who can bring those ideas to fruition. Fractured Atlas wants to encourage innovation and risk taking by honoring the innovative minds who are developing forward-thinking models for successful arts careers and organizations in the 21st century.

artsentrepreneurshipawardFractured Atlas is now accepting nominations for the 1st Annual Arts Entrepreneurship Awards, which will honor individuals and organizations in the arts who have:

  • innovated new business practices or paradigms;
  • developed novel solutions to old problems.

Artists and arts organizations from all parts of the arts and culture sector are eligible for nomination, regardless of size, geographic location, or discipline. Awardees will receive:

  • A free lifetime membership to Fractured Atlas
  • A specially commissioned and fabricated award by Terri Chiao and Adam Frezza of Chiaozza
  • Public exposure on Fractured Atlas’s blog and any accompanying media attention

The call for nominations opens today, on November  25th, 2013 and closes by 5:59PM EST on December 22nd, 2013. To apply fill out the form below, or at bit.ly/artsentrepreneurship. Nominees will be reviewed by an internal panel and awardees will be announced in January 2014.
