HARLEM OPERA THEATER’S 2008 VOCAL COMPETITION IS OPEN TO ARTISTS OF CLASSICAL VOICE - AGES 18-35. Eligible contestants must prepare a repertoire of four (4) pieces to be sung from memory, before a distinguished panel of music industry professionals. Cash prizes and performance opportunities. Travel and lodging are the contestants’ responsibility. PRELIMINARIES – 5/10/08 - SEMI-FINALS 5/31/08, 10AM TO 3PM (Contestants only) Convent Avenue Baptist Church, 420 W. 145th St., NYC. FINALS 6/20/08 with a panel of professional judges and public audience at the APOLLO THEATER SOUNDSTAGE, NYC. NON-REFUNDABLE FEES: Emerging Artist Division, Ages 18-22 ($10.00) – Professional Division, Ages 23-35 ($25.00), APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2008.
