"1237 Steps" is Just the First Step in the 2008 Season at art.les.nyc studios.
New York, NY., April 15th-- art.les.nyc studios is proud to host 1237 Steps, a show of new work by founding artist Aaron Thompson, to kick off our 2008 season. A free opening night reception will be held on May 2nd from 6 p.m. in the outdoor lounge at 202 Rivington Street, between Ridge and Pitt Streets.
1237 Steps will highlight Thompson's work in sculpture, paint, and multimedia presentations, revealing the story behind Tiger Cave Monastery in Krabi, Thailand. Thompson's new work recreates the artistic/spiritual experience of his recent trip there. "After climbing all those stairs, which was exhausting and treacherous," he says, "once you get to the mountain top, it's enlightening." In addition to the 1237 Steps kick-off, guests will be treated to live music, beverages for a $3 (suggested donation), with no cover charge.
