About César Petená: César was born in São Paulo, in 1986. He started studying guitar in 1997, and since then he’s had many great teachers like Marcelo Gomes and Jorge Ervolini. He’s worked as a jazz and rock guitar player since 2005 and performed with several artists and bands in the great São Paulo area and also in other states in Brazil. In addition to that, he’s also been working as a musical librarian and editor for São Paulo Symphony Orchestra. Currently, César studies the Brazilian 10-strings Guitar (Viola Caipira) at Faculdade Cantareira, under João Paulo Amaral’s orientation. He’s been devoted to research and performance as well as Viola Caipira’s repertoire. Therefore, César always takes place in workshops and reunions - and in some of them he gets the chance to meet and play with great names of Brazilian Culture like Ivan Vilela, Indio Cachoeira, Roberto Corrêa, Paulo Freire, Ricardo Vignini, and Zé Helder.
