What is film production and equipment liability insurance?
Members of Fractured Atlas can purchase insurance to cover their film production, including equipment and activities. Thanks to the combined purchasing power of thousands of filmmakers in the Fractured Atlas community, this coverage is available at significantly lower rates than would otherwise be possible. Film production insurance (also known as liability insurance) is generally required by venues and locations where you're filming. It mainly covers against damage to the space itself and injury to those in attendance who are not working on your film. Equipment insurance, if requested, can cover as much rented or owned equipment (against damage, theft, loss, etc.) as the member needs. Equipment can be film/video equipment, computers, props, etc. Rental Reimbursement insurance can also be added to the policy. This covers payments for rental equipment if you lost/damaged your equipment and needed to rent new equipment to keep filming. Negative Loss coverage can also be added to this policy. This insures the film negatives/tapes against damage/loss and covers reshoot/post production costs incurred as a result of this loss. Individual filmmakers and film production companies are eligible for insurance.
