Melanie A. Stinson
Arts Enchantment Experiences

Melanie Stinson, LMT, is a creator of enchantment experiences, a working artist and writer weaver of yarns who loves to share with others. With an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University in English and dance, graduate study at New York University in dance and creative arts education, and extensive professional training in screenwriting, writing for children, ballet, Laban Effort-Shape, and the science of energy healing, Melanie has presented her art experiences online as well as in much of northwest Ohio. She taught for the Creative Arts Program at BGSU, for the Nutmeg Conservatory and Watertown School of Dance in Connecticut, and continues to teach teens and adults Reiki locally.

Melanie's work helps children focus and learn. They develop skills in viewing art in new ways. They discover that life can present challenges that explorers, Jedi, writers and artists might face rather than insurmountable obstacles. Young people's creativity grows and they learn to see themselves as powerful imaginers who can use their skills in school to write better, answer questions, take tests, and learn in a way that enhances the wonder of the educational process. Melanie's enchantment experiences move children, teens, and yes, adults, closer to achieving future dreams and goals.

One of Melanie's primary tools is meditation. This is a focus that centers the mind, bringing calmness and well-being. Melanie feels that the arts offer different types of meditational experiences. Bringing this aspect into the schools at this time can help children do better in school. It can also help shy and anxious young people feel more confident and prepared.

Melanie's special art cards foster meditation in an interactive experience between each child and the art. Through the interaction, children develop skills used in school using what they encounter in the art to write, question, investigate and explore. Through such experiences, children and teens gain new perspectives about themselves and the learning process.

Art allows children to discover. It is a tool for the imagination and the imagination is powerful. Children who feel powerless and afraid and do not do well in school do not yet know how to use their minds to help them. Melanie wants to change that. But she needs your help to do so. Authors and artists who visit the schools charge $50 or more per session. While some schools can provide an honorarium, chances are that today most field trips and professional guest visits will be cut. You can ensure that the experiences provided by a writer/artist like Melanie continue and bring her to your child's school. Please contribute today!
