Prima Donna
'Prima Donna' is a short film produced by Columbia University MFA film students.
It tells the story of May, a 13-year old girl in love with singing country western music with her father, who has placed all her hopes in winning a singing talent competition as a way to save their relationship. On the way to the contest, her father, a gambler, decides he has other plans for her future. Today is the day she realizes the depths of her neediness for his love, where those country artists get their material from, and what it costs to love herself first.
With a focus on local film production in Florida including working with local crew and actors, the film will be shot on location in Lutz and Tampa, Florida. August 7-11 2010.
