How to Be a Human

There is an important truth shared by many indigenous cultures; none of us are born as Human Beings. We are born as "two-legged" animals. Becoming a human being is a process that requires the life's work of the individual and the community---together. So...how do we do it?

How do we become human beings? What makes a life worthwhile?

Just when you thought these questions were too big to ponder, you come across a different kind of theater in DC...built from the real-life interviews with experienced humans in their senior years, the project puts you in the center of the inquiry. After all, this is about you. It's about all of us.

How to Be a Human is an innovative, interview-based theater project that connects a diverse group of Washington DC area young people and elders through collaboration with professional artists to build an original play that will debut at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC.
