SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT IN NEW YORK, founded in 2010 by singer/actress/director/
voice teacher/coach/lecturer, Anna Bartos, is a cooperative creative collective for singers and actors of all levels of training and experience. It provides a safe, friendly, welcoming atmosphere for those wanting to improve their skills, as well as counseling on performance material and the chance to meet others with like ambitions. In addition, STSANY presents performers in showcases, cabaret, musical-theatrical events and informal musicales, and offers workshops and lessons in singing and acting for an affordable fee. Outreach performances are also given throughout the year at schools, shelters, sanctuaries, hospitals and senior residences. STSANY now has 136 members. To date, it has held over 40 meetups including workshops, rehearsals and performances for fees usually ranging from $10-$15. Some have been free.
