Audience Development
The arts can be a pretty incestuous business. All too often, the folks who
show up for your event will mainly consist of friends and family of the artists
involved. Maybe you'll bring in a few more people next time, or maybe you'll lose
a few. But unless you've gotten some amazing press, it's unlikely that whole new
worlds of interested audiences are just going to magically appear.
Depressed yet? Well you don't have to be. It's just time for a little Audience Development! Using our simple web-based tool, you can make free or discounted tickets available to a whole bunch of folks who might never have heard of you otherwise.
Why give away tickets to strangers? Because the goal here is to get butts in seats! An empty seat is worse than useless, since it represents a wasted opportunity. By distributing tickets through these channels, you'll be exposing your work to someone who likely would never have encountered it otherwise. This can be a great way to expand awareness and build your audience over time.
Our Partners:
High 5 Tickets for the Arts is a non-profit organization that offers high school students $5 tickets to various arts events and exhibits in and around the New York City Metro Area (including nearby areas of New Jersey and Connecticut). The $5 covers their marketing and administrative costs, so consider these a donation to a good cause (sorry, it's not tax deductible).
Theatre Development Fund offers vouchers for theatre, dance, and music events in the New York City Area. If you decide to accept TDF vouchers, you'll receive $8.50 for each voucher accepted.
TheaterMania Gold Club distributes complimentary theatre, dance, music, and comedy tickets to a dedicated contingency of members in the New York City area.
Theater Extras distributes complimentary theater, film, cabaret, comedy club, opera, classical music, dance, museum/exhibit, and lecture tickets to a dedicated contingency of 3000 members in the greater New York metropolitan area. A portion of all ticket processing fees charged to Theater Extras members is donated to the non-profit organization Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
