Haberdasher Theatre Seeks Stage Manager

    Haberdasher Theatre is looking for a new stage manager for their upcoming production of Alice in Wonderland.

Rehearsals begin March 30 and are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings (8PM-11PM) and Sunday afternoon with a production meeting beforehand (2PM-6PM). There is one rehearsal scheduled on Monday May 5, 2PM-6PM as well as two tech/dress rehearsals on Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday May 28 with a call time of 6:30 (and will last till about 10:00). Performances are May 29, 30, 31; June 5, 6, 7 with a call time of 6:30 and curtain at 8:00. (We will be completely done by 10:00pm). The performances will be held in "Under St. Marks" and rehearsals will be held in Lower Manhattan (TriBeCa).

Stage Manager

Reports to: Production Manager, Director

Consults with: Technical Director, Actors, Stage Crew

The stage manager is responsible for everything that happens on stage including actors and stage crew as well as set and props. The stage manager has many responsibilities which, according to the production and the director, may be delegated to the assistant director. The stage manager must take diligent notes on lines, blocking, lighting cues, sound cues, scene shifts, and other on stage business. The stage manager will also work closely with the production manager and technical director to communicate the production's needs.

Duties:

  • Assist with audition sign-in and proctoring
  • Attend all rehearsals
  • Ensure rehearsals stay on schedule
  • Keeps record of actor's schedule
  • Contacts actors missing from rehearsal
  • Create rehearsal schedule along with director
  • Attend all production meetings
  • Ensure that productions run on time
  • Ensure the rehearsal area is left clean and tidy at the end of rehearsals
  • Follow script on-book for actors and give line notes at the end of rehearsal
  • Assemble notes which include lighting, sound and actor cues as well as set and prop locations
  • Run the show once it opens; effectively, taking over for the director after the show opens.
