Hey everyone,
Just wanted to remind you again about the benefit night coming up at the Arclight Theater!
"The Set Up" is dark on Tuesday Night, so I have put together a Music Night to benefit, The Men of the Blessed Sacrament Transitional Residence.
The "BSTR" occupies the opposite end of the basement from the Arclight Theater. These men are HIV/AIDS Positive and I wanted to do something to help support them.
The cost to attend this event is $15 and the proceeds from the night will go directly to the shelter, so please come and help me support a great cause!
The Music Night is on May 20th at 8 PM.
The headliner for this Evening is Jose Conde.
Jose is an award winning recording artist; one of the best and most versatile musicians in the NY Latin scene and beyond!
Jose also did the sound design and included some of his original music for my play "The Set Up".
José Conde’s music fits into the powerfully danceable rhythmic system of Afro-Cuban music. A Cuban would say it’s got sabor de clave. He writes his own lyrics, too, and they have party flavor and humor, but they also have substance. Conde does his own arrangements – something few singers do – so both the charts and the production grow organically out of the words. check out his website at http://www.olafresca.com/
Performing both as a solo artist and with Jose will be his compadre, Marco Pankovich. The essence of Marco's music is "beautiful songs with sexy rhythms" or a jazzy blend of R&B, Soul, and funky pan Afro-Caribbean styles he likes to call, Afrosoul! You can check some of his music at http://www.myspace.com/sweetcanemusic
Also performing will be Alanna Vicente and Joe Davi. Alanna is a singer/song writer that will soon be featured on HBO's new series, "Song Story". Alanna also enjoys a very successful modeling career. Check out her website at http://www.alannavicente.com/ Also Check out Chocolate Seastorm, her first band.(available on iTunes)
Joe Davi has worn a wide variety of hats in the NYC music scene: session guitarist, staff engineer, sound designer, producer, arranger and composer. He has appeared as a writer, producer or instrumentalist, working with artists such as Mya, Keke Wyatt, Foxy Brown, Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock, Noreaga, Big Punisher and The Michael Rabinowitz Quartet.
Claudia Martin will also be singing a few of her jazz favorites. Her emotional and highly personal lyrics sung in both English and Italian, are guaranteed to draw you in. Claudia is a highly sought after musician who can often be found singing at The Rainbow Room, The Waldorf Astoria and various other top venues in and around NYC! Check out her website at http://www.claudiamartinmusic.com/index.htm
Again, I hope that you will come out and help support the men of the BSTR...and if you still haven't seen "The Set Up" we only have 7 shows left...what are you waiting for?
