Community Education Advocacy Network, Inc. announces the opening of Maine Arts & Sports Academy (MASA) in Bangor September 7, 2010.
MASA is a educational choice for students ages 5-17 where the student is at the heart of their education. MASA uses the arts, sports, apprenticeships, service-learning opportunities, and environmental education through which students explore their interests, develop their talents, strengthen their abilities, and engage in collaborative efforts with other students & adults.
No grades will be issued at MASA. At the close of each 8 week long Mod, students will be given written evaluations about their progress during the Mod. No tests will be given at MASA, at least, not in the traditional idea of “testing.” Because we will be challenging students beyond their comfort zone, they will feel a more realistic kind of “testing.”
MASA has assembled an impressive staff who are multi-talented and passionate about their chosen profession, and who ALL love children and want them to be successful whatever it takes. MASA meets children exactly where they are and helps them grow and blossom from there. Every child at MASA will design an Individualized Plan of Study (IPS) with the help of staff based upon the child's interests.
While Maine Arts & Sports Academy is tuition-based, no one will be denied if finances are an issue: scholarships, sliding scale and other possibilities can be arranged. Above all, we want to help your child re-gain a LOVE of LEARNING and an excitement about LIFE!!!!
Enrollment materials can be obtained by emailing growmasa@gmail.com or by calling 207-862-8044. For information about how to donate and/or sponsor a student please email Lori Safford at lorisaff@gmail.com.
