Celebrate America Show
Big Band Show, Dinner & Dance
This year’s Celebrate America Show, “Hooray For Hollywood”, takes you back in time to 1942 to experience an evening at the Coconut Grove, where the biggest stars of the era are out to sell war bonds.
During World War II, patriotism soared in the United States. Hollywood stars gave America over 70 medals in honor of their valor, spanning from Bronze Stars, Silver Stars, Distinguished Service Cross', Purple Hearts and one Congressional Medal of Honor. From the average citizen to the biggest names in show-business, everyone wanted to “do their part” to help the war effort, and many did by purchasing War Bonds. Hollywood’s famous Coconut Grove, was the hotspot for movie-stars and star-gazers alike - making the club the perfect place for fund-raising galas to build morale and to sell War Bonds.
The show is packed with music from the movies including Singing In The Rain, Let’s Go To The Movies, Slap That Bass, White Christmas, Hooray for Hollywood, and many others. Hollywood helped America escape the harshness of war, and gave the USA real-life heroes in a time of need. The Celebrate America Show is a star spangled celebration of Hollywood -- “Hooray for Hollywood”!
After the show, You’ll enjoy dancing, or just listening, to all your favorite big band tunes from Glenn Miller to Tommy Dorsey with the Larry Smith Orchestra and Singers.
September 8,9,10,11, 2010; Utah State University Ballroom, Logan, UT. For additional information 435-753-1551. Get tickets www.celebrateamericashow.com or call USU’s Caine School of the Arts Box Office 435-797-8022.
