Pittsburgh New Works Festival Seeks One Act Plays

The Pittsburgh New Works Festival is now accepting one-act plays that have never before been produced. Twelve one-act plays will be selected to be performed as mainstage productions for the festival's 22nd season, which begins in September. An additional six will be selected for staged readings, to be performed the last two Sundays of August. The plays are produced by 18 theatre companies from all over the Pittsburgh region.
Each of the12 playwrights whose plays are selected for mainstage productions receives a $50 honorarium. The playwright who receives the award for Outstanding Contribution by a Playwright will receive $500, to be awarded at the Gala in October.
Each entry will receive brief comments from three readers.
To enter your play for consideration, please submit the following:
(1) An electronic copy (Word document preferred) of your play to email@example.com. The first page of your play must contain only the name of the play, the characters and a physical description of each. The email accompanying your submission must include the following information:
IMPORTANT Your name should not appear anywhere on the play itself. (Judging and selection are conducted anonymously). The pages should be numbered and the name of the play should appear on each page of the play.Please note that we no longer require the submission of a hard copy of the play.
(2) One self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope to return judges' comments to you.
(3) A check in the amount of $15 payable to Pittsburgh New Works Festival, Inc.

The Pittsburgh New Works Festival is dedicated to fostering the development of original one-act plays. PNWF is an annual event. Each September, 18 new one-act plays are produced by different theater companies during the four weeks of the festival.
