My Octet Kickstarter Project
Today I’m making a very special announcement.
In order to raise funds for the recording of Recontradoble, which will be the octet’s third album, we are launching a fundraising campaign today on Kickstarter.com. I hope that you’ll want to be a part of the adventure of making this new record a reality.So, please take a look at our Kickstarter page,where you can see our video presentation, listen to recent live recordings of pieces that will be on Recontradoble, and learn more about the group and the album. You can also follow the project’s progress and hear new recordings on my blog, http://octeto.tumblr.com/If you decide to contribute, there are a variety of rewards for you that correspond to different levels of donation. Importantly, Kickstarter is set up so that nobody pays anything until the project’s funding goal is 100% reached. PS, for those who want to know a bit more about Kickstarter-Kickstarter.com, founded in April 2009, has quickly earned the right to call itself “the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects.” The website allows artists and innovators to reach out to potential backers all over the world. Backers get something in return through a system of pledges and rewards, and Kickstarter’s merchant partnership with Amazon.com makes it easy to pledge from anywhere in the world.
Kickstarter’s “all or nothing” funding policy is one of the reasons we chose the site for this project. Each project sets a fundraising goal and a concrete window of time, and if the projected amount of money has not been raised by the end of that period, nobody pays anything. Kickstarter’s website explains the logic behind this policy succinctly: “it protects everyone involved.”

Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos! Bienvenue!!!
Hello friends,
Happy new year to all of you! I hope that your 2012 is full of music and the people that you love. A new year, a new blog, and some news from over here. I’m very excited for this upcoming year; it’s going to be a busy one for me and for the Octet. We have shows coming up at the Lily Pad and the Regatta Bar, and this summer we will be recording our third album together. It’s going to be called Recontradoble, and you can check in on this blog to follow our progress and hear live recordings of some of the pieces that will be on the album. All of that is on the plate for this upcoming year, and I’m ever grateful for your friendship and support. For now, I’ll leave you with a picture of the other musician in the family and couple of new tracks from our 2011 concerts.

¡Feliz año nuevo para todos! Les deseo que el 2012 esté lleno de música y se encuentren muy cerca de las personas que aman. Año nuevo, y nuevo blog para mantenerlos al tanto de lo que anda pasando por aquí. Estoy al mango preparando el año que viene, con conciertos y sorpresas con el Octeto. Vamos a tocar pronto en elLily Pad y en el Regatta Bar aquí en Cambridge y para Junio estaremos grabando un nuevo álbum. Se llamará Recontradoble y a través de este blog podrán ir siguiendo lo que vamos haciendo con toda esta música en los conciertos. Por ahora esto es todo para el año que viene y les agradezco todo su apoyo y amistad. Mas abajo podrán ver una foto de la nueva pianista de la familia y escuchar un par de tracks de nuestro último concierto.

Meilleurs vœux à tous ! J’espère que 2012 sera une belle année, pleine de musique, pour vous et ceux que vous aimez. Nouvelle année, nouveau blog. J’ai plein de projets pour l’année à venir, et avec l’Octet nous allons être bien occupés. Nous avons des concerts prévus au Lily Pad, et au Regatta Bar à Cambridge, et cet été nous allons enregistrer notre troisième album en commun. Cet album s’appellera Recontradoble et vous pourrez consulter le blog pour suivre notre progression et écouter les enregistrements live de quelques morceaux qui figureront sur l’album. Donc, beaucoup de choses au programme pour 2012…et je vous serai toujours reconnaissant pour votre amitié et votre soutient.
