Fractured Atlas Updates

by Adam Natale in Fall 2006

Things have been busy in the Fractured Atlas office these past months and we have a lot of updates for our members!

You may have noticed that we recently revamped the Marketing and Promotion portion of our website (and will continue to do so in the upcoming months). First and foremost, we're very excited to announce a revolutionary Audience Development program. Using a simple online form, we've combined the ticket distribution services of the Theatre Development Fund's Voucher Program, High 5 Tickets to the Arts, and TheaterMania Gold Club so that Fractured Atlas members can make tickets to artistic events available to people who might have never heard about your event otherwise. This can be a great way to expand awareness and build your audience over time. Currently, this service is only available for events held in and around the New York City metropolitan area, but we hope to expand it in the future.

In addition to this new service, our Calendar of Events is in a format that's easier to use and now includes the "Post a News Release" section. We are also no longer offering printing and distribution services for a number of reasons. Our staff will be more than happy to refer you to printing and mailing companies if you need them.

Also new on the website, you will find that the applications for our Emerging Artists Fund Developmental Grants Program are now completely online. You can login, fill out, and submit your applications in a very easy process. No more running to the post office last minute!

As we've mentioned in previous newsletters, we're currently working to improve healthcare insurance for D.C.-area artists. We will have a meet-up on Monday, October 30th, co-hosted by Dance/MetroDC and the League of Washington Theatres (venue TBD - check our Calendar of Events for more details). If you're an artist in the area, please join us; we'd love to hear your healthcare-related thoughts, ideas, and concerns.

And, finally, some welcomes. The Asian American Arts Alliance (www.aaartsalliance.org), the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (www.lmcc.net), and the Children's Museum of the Arts (www.cmany.org) in New York City and Women in Film & Video (www.wifv.org) in Washington, D.C. are our newest Open Arts Network members.

We'd also like to welcome Marie Ortiz, our new full-time administrative assistant, who is currently working on obtaining her Master's degree in Arts and Cultural Management from the Pratt Institute. We're thrilled by these new additions to the Fractured Atlas community!
