Spaces: An Online Marketplace for Arts Space Rentals
The Challenge
Artists spend considerable resources on finding, scheduling and renting space for rehearsal and performance. Amenity needs are highly specific and a creative team's schedules can be complex. Managing ongoing space rental is often an inefficient and frustrating task.
Meanwhile, venues spend considerable resources on finding the "right" renters for their space. "Right" might be as strategic as commercial renters who help subsidize non-profit rental rates or as pragmatic as responsible renters who are respectful of the environment a venue is cultivating. Finding the right renter is difficult and often leaves spaces underutilized.

Expanded Search
Search filters have expanded to address highly specific needs such as A/V equipment, flooring, instruments, acoustics, lighting, seating, wifi, and more.
Share My Calendar
Venues who upgrade free listings with the Share My Calendar feature can display updated availability and be matched to renters based on Availability Search.
Booking Engine
Manage requests for rental, secure online payment, accept credit cards at the door, and send auto reminders to renters, all through the Spaces-powered Booking Engine.

To find a space or to list your venue, the first step is to figure out whether someone's offering Spaces in your city or region.
Arts Space Solutions Network
Fractured Atlas's Spaces software is the infrastructure currently powering online marketplaces for arts space in numerous cities nationwide. Beyond a standard venue directory, Spaces offers an interactive tool to discover space based on specific needs. The software supports 5 separate ways of being matched to space (filter, sort, key word search, map, and browse) and 150 different space attributes/filters.
Participating venues have direct access to a targeted local audience of potential renters, who value the resource because it is user friendly and, with outreach led by local partners, comprehensive. Underneath the online marketplace is a database with extensive reporting. Partners own the data they collect, and can gain important insights from the Spaces landscape in their communities.
