Arts grants are usually available for short-term projects with finite lives. But ongoing professional development is important for artistic growth. The trouble is, there's not as much funding available.

To address this need, Fractured Atlas provides modest, competitive awards to support the long-term training and professional development of our members.

What does that mean? It means money for artists to attend conferences and workshops, take classes, travel to international residencies, or purchase computer equipment and software. Targeted funding for long-term impact.

In 2008 and 2009, we helped members fly to Spain for flamenco dance training, travel to a residency with the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, pay for tuition for glass-blowing, and study with a master wood carver in Alaska.
