The March 26, 2012 Women’s Work presentation showcases Mary Au, Arietha Lockhart, Lydia Busler-Blais and Sheryl Cohen in a recital that celebrates the human condition, mother nature, as well as the leading contemporary American women composers who bared their souls to the world through music. It will include five world premieres, three New York premieres and a revisitation of several old favorites.

Women's Work brings recognition to the achievements of women composers and performers of all periods and nationalities by producing concerts of women's music and by teaching the public about their accomplishments.

The composers presented are a mix of historical and contemporary, with a strong preference for new music. We also strongly encourage the performers to present works by emerging as well as established voices.

To fulfill its mission, Women's Work produces a concert series each March and documents the performances, including biographies, program notes, photographs, recordings of the composer’s works and other information on its Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Womens-Work/135440309855293) and MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/womenswork) pages.

Many of the composers are presented to the audiences speaking live before their performances as well as in podcast interviews on the internet. Many of these are available at http://www.jamesarts.com/womens-work/index.htm.
