The Civic Ensemble's Inaugural Season

Campaign expired on May 1, 2013

Get in on the ground floor with The Civic Ensemble, Ithaca's new theatre company! We're seeking to raise $5000 to help fund our Inaugural 2012-2013 Season, and we welcome you to join our efforts with a contribution of any amount. HELP THE CIVIC ENSEMBLE DEVELOP NEW, CUTTING-EDGE THEATRE WORKS HERE IN ITHACA! The season runs from October through June, and includes staged readings of new plays by two of our country's most important emerging female playwrights: Chiori Miyagawa's THIS LINGERING LIFE and Katharine Clark Gray's TIMBER LAND. We'll also present a special holiday presentation of UNHEARD VOICES, an evening of monologues honoring the anonymous African descended men, women, and children who lived in 17th and 18th century New York City and now rest in the African Burial Ground. The season will culminate with our first full production: the community-based play PARENT STORIES, written by Sarah K. Chalmers. And we're proud to announce that our season will be taking place on the Kitchen Theatre Company's stage! All contributions are fully tax-deductible, and will receive public acknowledgement on this campaign site, unless otherwise requested. Thank you for your support!

About Civic Ensemble

Civic Ensemble is an Ithaca-based professional theatre company. We create theatre that explores and explodes the social, political, and cultural issues of our time. Through the production of new and overlooked plays, community-based plays, and re-imaginings of classics, the Civic Ensemble works to bring audiences of different races, classes, and experiences together in a public forum on the American experiment. The company is committed to primarily working with Ithaca-based actors and directors whenever possible.
