The Queens Players
The Queens Players was founded in January 2005 on a wing and a prayers. After more than 19 mainstage productions we feel ready to secure the future of The Queens Players non union acting company. Most of the time we have up to 30 active members who though they are mostly actors include a few directors, writers and set designers. After slightly nomadic existence which included two other Long Island City spaces we have ended up in a permanent home at The Secret Theatre.
The artistic repertoire of the past and upcoming seasons includes classics such as Marlowe's Edward II, Knight of The Burning Pestle, Cyrano De Bergerac, The Spanish Tragedie and Tartuffe. Contemporary new works include 7 Stories, Home James, Happy Saturdays, Atonement. We are also known as the Grand Guignol experts in New York after 4 seperate productions featuring 14 plays from the French Theatre of Horror. Or 2008 season will also promote the original work of 12 different playwrights in our Act Three:One Act production as part of the Long Island City One Act Festival.
