Amber Sloan choreography

Amber Sloan is a New York based choreographer with "strong and intriguing approaches to dance as work, as eye on the world, as life" (Carrie Stern, Brooklyn Daily Eagle). Her work, described as "stunning" (Sophie Ernst, Show Business Weekly), has been presented at a variety of venues including the West End Theater, Dancenow[NYC] Festival, Spoke the Hub's Gowanus Arts, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Mulberry Street Theater, Dance Theater Workshop (Family Matters), Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church (Food for Thought), Conversations at the Flea, and others.
She has received numerous choreographic residency grants including Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Dance Theater Workshop's Outer/Space grant, Mulberry Street Theater's Newsteps residency, The Field's Artward Bound, a Certain Bird residency in Stamford, Vermont and a choreographic fellowship from Concord Summer Stages in Concord, MA.
As a performer, Sloan has been a member of David Parker and The Bang Group since 2002 appearing in prestigious theaters and festivals in both Europe and the United States.
She has taught dance composition at The Alvin Ailey School and modern dance at 100 Grand, Brooklyn Arts Exchange and Boston Ballet's summer program.
Sloan received a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
