Opportunity for Reinvention
LEAP into your FUTURE
The arts, whether opera, theater, music, visual, dance, or otherwise, ignite the mind; give individuals freedom to fantasize and hope; and, feed the soul. In a world so full of violence and hatred, why would we deny this opportunity to our children? Through arts programs, especially dance, children have the opportunity to become passionate and develop discipline that will equip them for thriving throughout their life.
Dance has been shown to be a way for people to fully express themselves, share their history, and explore the world through a different avenue. Children can discover their identity and stimulate their imagination and reasoning through dance. The Ministry of Education states that students of all ages “learn in dance as they use its vocabularies and practices to interpret, communicate with, and respond to the world in their own unique and personal ways. In learning about dance, students investigate the forms, purposes, and significance of dance in past and present times. Learning through dance enables them to appreciate that dance is a holistic experience that links the mind, body, and emotions”. Dance encourages collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, innovation, problem solving, and global awareness; all desirable 21st century skills increasingly in demand by employers in a variety of fields. These 21st century skills are becoming difficult to access in traditional public school settings due to the removal of the arts in schools, and are innate to the dance education received through the Republic of Dance.
As an educational organization, the Republic of Dance envisions their organization providing an unparalleled dance curriculum and philanthropic experience to students to give them access to elevating themselves and to empower them to achieve their goals with collegiate institutions or professional companies. The Republic of Dance is in the process of creating a cutting edge 21stcentury learning environment with distinguished teachers who emphasize creativity, proper technique, stage presence, and positive personal growth; and, are trained in the curriculum and standards for learning based on the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) Professional Teaching Standards for Dance Education. To further ensure that our students receive a top of the line dance education, all teachers will attend a pre-approved teacher-training program.
The Republic of Dance will provide access to a well-rounded dance education that emphasizes elevated thinking beyond teaching just steps. Dance will remain a creative outlet for students, and will provide an opportunity for those who may not otherwise get a chance to fully and freely express themselves. The curriculum will allow students to be engaged in the creative process through improvisation, choreography, creative movement; and, will empower students to achieve their goals, whether they are focused on preparing for college or professional auditions. But to achieve all of this, we need the OPPORTUNITY TO REINVENT a home for students.
