Public Art Insurance

Members of Fractured Atlas can purchase insurance to cover their public art projects. Thanks to the combined purchasing power of thousands of artists in the Fractured Atlas community, this coverage is available at significantly lower rates than would otherwise be possible.

This insurance is for the fabrication and installation of public artworks. It offers general liability coverage for the artist during the fabrication, installation, and/or the exhibition of the work. You can also elect to cover the artwork itself as well. Insurance is provided on an annual basis only, but is usually quite cost effective, even if you only need it short term.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR VISUAL ARTISTS. IF YOUR WORK IS A PERFORMANCE THAT IS TAKING PLACE IN A PUBLIC SETTING, PLEASE APPLY FOR INSURANCE USING OUR EVENT INSURANCE PROGRAM.

How Much Does it Cost?

We're not an insurance company and we can't guarantee any particular rate. However, we can report that to date, general liability policies for most public art projects have been between $425-525. Artwork coverage is based on the amount of the commission and tends to cost anywhere from $300-600 (assuming the commission is between $10K and $100K).

How Long Does it Take?

After you submit your application, you can expect to receive a quote within 3-5 business days, on average. If you're satisfied with the rate, you can purchase your policy instantly online, which will bind coverage. Proof of your coverage will then be available through our website about 1-2 business days after your purchase (if not sooner).
