Film Production Insurance

Members of Fractured Atlas can purchase insurance to cover their film production, including equipment and activities. Thanks to the combined purchasing power of thousands of filmmakers in the Fractured Atlas community, this coverage is available at significantly lower rates than would otherwise be possible.

Insurance is provided on an annual basis only, but is usually quite cost effective, even if you've only got a short-term shoot. In this single online application, you can choose to cover any and all of your production activities and risk exposures, including: rented/owned equipment, lost or damaged negatives/videos, workers' comp, and errors and omissions (E&O). It's incredibly flexible!

How Much Does it Cost?

We're not an insurance company and we can't guarantee any particular rate. However, we can report that to date, policies for film projects with budgets under $100,000 have been about $425 for liability coverage alone. Equipment coverage tends to cost anywhere from $350-950 (assuming equipment valued between $10K and $100K). Negative/video loss coverage is typically $800-900. Errors and omissions coverage is usually between $2,500 and $2,800 for productions with budgets under $250K. Workers' comp varies based on the number of employees and size of payroll, but small outfits can usually be insured for as little as $300.

How Long Does it Take?

After you submit your application, you can expect to receive a quote within 2-3 business days, on average. If you're satisfied with the rate, you can purchase it instantly by calling Fractured Atlas, which will bind coverage. You'll then be sent proof of coverage by email.
