Life or Liberty

documentaries on immigrant communities resisting detention, internment, and ‘illegalization’

Life or Liberty produces documentaries on how immigrant communities resist government policies of wartime incarceration and racialized enforcement.

Our current project is the feature documentary RESISTANCE AT TULE LAKE, which tells the story of Japanese Americans incarcerated during World War II whose lives were violently uprooted after they refused to submit to the U.S. government's "loyalty questionnaire."

The recently completed feature ENEMY ALIEN tells the story of The two-year fight to free a Palestinian detained by Homeland Security through the eyes of a Japanese American filmmaker whose involvement leads him to uncover the story of his own grandparents' World War II incacrceration.
