Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor
Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor is a full-length documentary film featuring five severely wounded service members with injuries ranging from burns to amputations. They will tell their stories from the moment they decided to enlist, to their experiences in combat, their struggles in coming home to heal, and the role that humor plays in their rehabilitation.
As part of the process of, they will be teamed up with A-list comedians (Zach Galifianakis, Bob Saget, and Brad Garrett have signed on so far) and comedy writers who will mentor them in crafting a stand-up routine based around their experiences, culminating in a live performance event hosted by one of our comedians. The purpose of the film is not only to document the struggles these individuals have gone through, but their healing process and the role humor plays in that process. It will serve as a way of honoring their service and sacrifice, as well as provide a message of hope for injured service members who have just begun this journey and anyone who faces similar challenges. The producers are committed to creating a documentary of award winning caliber and impact.
This endeavor has been endorsed by Wounded Warrior Project, a private apolitical non-profit group founded in 2003 to provide comfort items to wounded service members but has since grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist returning soldiers as they recover and transition back to civilian life.
